Recruitment automation should stop at the shortlist
A recruitment desk does not need help deciding who belongs on a shortlist. That is the work your recruiters are paid to do. It needs help carrying the same candidate details across the systems that sit around that decision.
The useful boundary is easy to describe: let the worker carry the record, and keep the judgement with the recruiter.
Let the worker handle the handoffs
Once a candidate applies, a Sustainable Agent can handle the repetitive parts of the desk:
- Read an inbound CV and populate the fields your ATS needs.
- Keep candidate status in step across the ATS, email, WhatsApp, and a client submission sheet.
- Prepare interview confirmations and follow-up drafts from approved wording.
- Assemble a submission pack in the format a client already uses.
- Flag missing information, mismatches, and candidates who have gone quiet.
That is a lot of carrying. It is also work with a clear audit trail and a clear place to stop.
Keep the decision with the recruiter
The agent does not decide whether a candidate fits a role. It does not rank people, make a placement, negotiate an offer, or turn an incomplete record into a confident recommendation. Your team makes those calls.
When a workflow reaches a judgement or a consequential action, the agent stops and asks. That keeps the recruiter in the part of the process where experience matters, instead of asking them to spend the afternoon copying a phone number into a second system.
Start with one desk and watch the work
We build the first workflow in dry-run. The worker reads the real inputs, prepares the records and messages it would create, and sends nothing. You review the work before anything goes live.
Candidate data also needs care. Contact requires a recorded lawful basis, outbound messages stay within the approved workflow, and opt-outs are honoured within 24 hours. Every action is logged.
The first useful test is small: choose one desk, one ATS, and one client handoff. If the worker cannot make that loop cleaner without taking judgement away from your recruiters, it is the wrong workflow for an agent. We will tell you that.
